What People Are Saying

“Simply, the best family vacation ever.”

I
f you are looking for tranquility, friendliness and traditional simple values, look no further, Rolling Hills amalgamates all of these things and more. This is a unique environment surrounded by beautiful nature and down to earth real people that for sure will make anyone appreciate the value of time and family. Simply, the best family vacation ever. R.P.

“Our meals were delicious, featuring 5-star cuisine, often accompanied by amazing wines.”

I
just returned from speaking at a retreat at Rolling Hills Estate in beautiful Westport, NY. The entire experience was exceptional in every way. The accommodations are beautiful, comfortable, and well-equipped for just about any need. These folks embody the “farm to table” lifestyle with an abundance of fresh produce, milk/cream, eggs, meat, etc. Our meals were delicious, featuring 5-star cuisine, often accompanied by amazing wines. I especially enjoyed morning coffee on my screened-in porch where I listened to the loons on Lake Champlain and observed deer playing just off my porch. My morning walk often took me to visit the horses and sheep. The golfcarts and bicycles are a lovely touch! Every staff member I encountered was friendly and eager to make my stay enjoyable. They succeeded! I hope to return soon with my family! Thanks to everyone for a wonderfully relaxing week! T.S.

“…nightly bonfires and fabulous bartenders who took care of us each night.”

M
y family of 9 had the most amazingly relaxing vacation at Rolling Hills. Everything was a 10/10. The townhouse was beautifully decorated and equipped with everything we needed. There was plenty of room for all of us to spread out and be comfortable. The views of the lake from the porches were spectacular, and we witnessed beautiful sunrises and even a rainbow over the lake. We vacationed with 2 sets of grandparents who loved the golf carts, walking paths , nightly bonfires and fabulous bartenders who took care of us each night. The 5 course meal on Saturday prepared by Chef Vittorio was absolutely delicious, and we all agreed the eggplant milefoglie was one of the best dishes we ever ate. My children took advantage of all Rolling Hills had to offer and biked all over the property, milked the cows, fed the baby calf, gardened, fished and kayaked all day long. We loved the vineyard tour by Dan and wine pairings and tastings and even got to take part in the grape harvest. Chef Rose spoiled us each morning with a delicious breakfast. The fresh vegetables and meats provided kept us well fed. The entire staff worked seamlessly to ensure we had the best time ever. Rolling Hills offers something for every age group. C.S.

“The most unique and memorable part of the vacation though was the dining experience.”

R
olling Hills was a great place to have our two week annual family vacation. Nine people and two dogs fit perfectly in the house, with our favorite room being the porch where we played games, eat lunch, held happy hour or just relaxed staring at the beautiful lake views. Most of our days were outside though, exploring the property, paddle boarding, hiking (near by Adirondack peaks), playing tennis and hanging out at the communal bonfire.

The most unique and memorable part of the vacation though was the dining experience. The meals were incredible – delicious, abundant, healthy & local (I must have gained at least 5 lbs.). Most of the ingredients actually came from the farm, which was eye opening for my urban nieces. I especially appreciated the gluten free, dairy free, egg free, coffee cake which was made daily and always the first thing to go – Thanks ‘Chef R’.

The wine tastings and vineyard tours were also a highlight, as we learned so much about wine (growing, making & drinking it), as well as the Adirondack culture and surrounding landscape. It really made us fall in love with the place and we could do it all together, which was the best! Lastly, the RH owners, associates and staff were all so kind, personable and attentive. This Farm to Stay establishment is one of a kind and a place we will definitely return! A.H.

“Nightly s’mores at the tasting barn with a cocktail from the bar was a great way to end the evenings.”

W
here to even start?!?!? From the moment we met Dan at the gate to the moment we drive through the gates for the last time we were living in a dream wonderland. The property is pristine. The mix of vineyards, woods, farmland, barn life, and the lake exceeded our expectations. Our townhouse was perfect for our crew of 6 adults and 3 kids (under the age of 6). Mind you, we came during the peak of a heatwave and the staff made sure to have air conditioners prepared for us…trust me they were needed! The kitchen is fully stocked and the charcoal grill on the patio was perfect for our daily cookouts. The daily meat list to choose from was never-ending and they cooked up perfectly. There was never a dull moment. We fished off the dock, went kayaking and canoeing, the kids played on the beach, and we can’t forget helping farmer Matt with the barn chores! The wine tour was great and the tasting was even better. Nightly s’mores at the tasting barn with a cocktail from the bar was a great way to end the evenings. We loved that it was a car-free property so having the golf carts to get around were very convenient. The best part was the attention that the staff gave to each and every one of us. They would stop from whatever task they were doing and chat with us and check if we needed anything. I can honestly say that we will be coming back to Rolling Hills Winery and making this a regular home away from home! Thank you to all of the staff for making this trip a memorable one!!! S.P.

“…exemplary management reflecting hospitality at its best.”

W
e stayed at the RHEW and I must say, it was one of the best, most relaxing, while at the same time, exciting vacations ever! What made it stand out for me was the combination of activities, amenities, and most of all – the staff and owners who make you feel like family and friends. We consider ourselves to be well-traveled, but I have not come across a group of such humble, knowledgeable, and openly friendly people. At first, we joked it must be something in the Adirondacks water, but over the two-week period we realized that it was exemplary management reflecting hospitality at its best, and a dream actualized by the owners.

We spent the two weeks: relaxing on the privately staffed beach, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, fishing, playing tennis, basketball, cornhole, biking, hiking, exploring trails, wine tasting and much more. We also took the Essex ferry to Burlington, VT for a day of shopping and sightseeing. If you are looking for a vineyard, farm, simple yet luxurious oasis experience on Lake Champlain with great food and wine, and the best of staff, look no further. L.B.

“In addition to all of the activities, we were treated to amazing farm fresh food…”

W
hat an experience! Our family of five had an incredible time at Rolling Hills Estate Winery. Amazing facilities, a beautiful setting on Lake Champlain and a staff that is absolutely world class (and incredibly friendly). The list of activities on the property and nearby was endless – boating, fishing, white water rafting, zip lining, hiking, biking, golf, and a working farm where you can help with chores. We were never bored! All of this in a beautiful setting right on the lake with the mountains in the background. In addition to all of the activities, we were treated to amazing farm fresh food (our favorites were the eggs and milk, delicious morning pastries and the huge farm to table feast every Saturday night), wine, fire pits at night, and sunsets. Aside from all of the available activities and the setting, the staff really make Rolling Hills the experience it is. Everyone was exceedingly helpful, friendly, and always went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. If you are looking for an idyllic setting where there are endless activities, great accommodations, and an amazing staff, Rolling Hills is a must visit and we hope to return soon. R.G.

“The food, setting, and conversation all come together to create a once in a lifetime experience.”

W
e had an absolutely wonderful time during our stay here! The setting is breathtaking and around every corner is more encouragement to just breathe and relax. The staff are wonderful! Personal, excellent service is threaded through every encounter.

We cooked daily breakfasts of farm fresh eggs and bacon. One morning, we used homemade sourdough bread, farm fresh full fat milk, and Rolling Hills Estate Winery made maple syrup to make French toast that was absolutely amazing. There are also fresh bakery goods for breakfast each morning at the main barn.

Saturday night dinner is not to be missed! The food, setting, and conversation all come together to create a once in a lifetime experience.

Perfect place to take a step back, slow down, and relax!  S.B.

“My kids spent their days fishing and riding bikes.”

W
e can’t wait to go back to Rolling Hills Estate Winery. We had such a fun and relaxing vacation there. The staff were exceptional and the view down at the beach was beautiful. My kids spent their days fishing and riding bikes. The dinner the last night was delicious. This is a five-star vacation all around!!!  J.C

“…every single staff member was unbelievable! Beyond friendly and bent over backwards in every way”

L
iterally have never posted a review, but this experience was too special and we had to share! Came here with 4 families (kids age 9-16) and we really had no idea what to expect. Once here, every single staff member was unbelievable! Beyond friendly and bent over backwards in every way. The fresh produce and meat were phenomenal, and the chef’s dinner was AMAZING. My kids loved paddle boarding, tubing and the freedom the property allowed. We even tried to stay an extra week but the place is booked solid. Honestly a magical place. L.B.

“…everyone who went said they can’t wait for next year! Just an awesome time.”

J
ust came back from a week at this great property and I miss it already. We had 6 families in our group and everyone who went said they can’t wait for next year! Just an awesome time. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. Staff was incredible – Melissa, Rob, Dan, Matt, Charles the excellent bartender and all the guys down at the lake. They couldn’t be more accommodating. Fresh produce and meat from their farm daily was a great touch too.

Accommodations were quite spacious and top notch. Rustic luxury.

Thanks very much to the owners who did a great job making Rolling Hills into a special lakeside retreat. This is a hidden gem and hopefully it stays that way. M.R.

“… if you think the service at the Four Seasons is great you have not been to RHEW.”

W
e had the most amazing week at Rolling Hills Estate Winery. It exceeded all of our expectations. From Melissa to Dan to Rob and all of the bartenders, beach staff, housekeeping, farm crew… if you think the service at the Four Seasons is great you have not been to RHF. It was the PERFECT vacation for our family. My kids said it was one of the best they can remember. The food was outstanding, the activities perfect. The accommodations beyond comfortable and easy. Thank you!! We can’t wait to return!! P.W.

“The hosts and the entire staff was warm, friendly, and accommodating and the surroundings were gorgeous.”

W
e had a magical week at Rolling Hills. We were a group of 6 families (with 16 kids ranging from age 8-20) and all had an amazing experience there. The hosts and the entire staff was warm, friendly, and accommodating and the surroundings were gorgeous. Adirondack lake life was a pleasure and Rolling Hills added an element of incredible fine dining. Our big group 5 course farm to table dinners were as good as any NYC restaurant. We had a trip we will never forget, and we look forward to returning again next Summer.  M.S.

“Nothing could beat the lake activities, s’mores by the fire pit, spectacular sunsets over the vineyard…”

W
e didn’t know what to expect as this was a new place and we were in the midst of Covid. We were with other families, all friends, and had kids of all different ages. This place was perfect! The golf carts only added to the ambiance. Nothing could beat the lake activities, s’mores by the fire pit, spectacular sunsets over the vineyard and service equivalent to the Ritz. The accommodations were spacious and clean. RHEW provided bikes and we took daily rides into the cute little town. Even took the nearby ferry to Burlington, VT one day. Hard to imagine this place getting any better. Will be back next year for sure!! H.L.

“This slice of heaven will have you floating on clouds with a lovely staff and owners who truly care about your experience…”

R
olling Hills, blue sky, beach, luxury accommodations, and lovely property. This slice of heaven will have you floating on clouds with a lovely staff and owners who truly care about your experience. You will have Wi-Fi, but no TV. This is a place to unwind your mind, relax the body, and rejuvenate the spirit. Top notch chefs delight with 5 course dinners each week as well as a country breakfast that will keep you humming all day long. Of course, if you like to be your own gourmet chef, you can use your kitchen, or the griller/smoker provided with your cottage. All tools and charcoal are provided. What’s more, you can join other guests around the lovely communal fire pit.

You may ask what you can cook, and the answer is the freshest from Rolling Hills own farm. This includes vegetables and protein. Beef, pork, lamb, and more. Fresh greens, cucumbers, radishes, and more. You can even get farm fresh milk right from their own cows. SO GOOD!

I highly recommend a stay at Rolling Hills. Westport is a cute town with a golf course, a marina, a yacht club, and a smattering of restaurants. You will also find great hiking, waterfalls, swimming holes, white water rafting, and a whole lot more to explore within a drive. And, Burlington, Vt. is about an hour away and there are a ton of excellent restaurants there as well as great shopping. T.G.

“…had the privilege of staying on this magnificent property for three weeks this summer. The team has put together an experience like no other…”

W
e had the privilege of staying on this magnificent property for three weeks this summer. The team has put together an experience like no other… whether we wanted to explore the vast property via bikes or walking or simply sitting on the beach enjoying the wonderful views of Lake Champlain and reading a book, or going fishing and hiking there was no way not to relax and enjoy. We had fabulous Saturday night feasts and fun times making s’mores nightly. The accommodations are spacious, comfortable, and have multiple screened in decks to enjoy the night air. Our daughters commented that this was like having a high-end summer colony experience, something akin to grown up camp, and I couldn’t agree more. I look forward to returning with my family next year.  E.F.

“The five-course, gourmet meal not only redefined farm-to-table, it proved that the head chef is, without a doubt, the Thomas Keller of the Adirondacks.”

R
olling Hills Estate Winery is a special place where the world falls away. The owners have thought of everything. From the fluffy towels, impeccably curated spirits at the bar, the most delicious tomatoes in the world and so much in between, I wanted for nothing.

The days were filled with forest hikes, swimming in the sparkling waters of Lake Champlain, a bounty of farm fresh food and service rivaling the world’s best hotels. Each night brought a gift of blissful sleep, thanks to the fresh mountain air and one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever experienced.

The Chef’s Dinner was an unexpected highlight. The five-course, gourmet meal not only redefined farm-to-table, it proved that the head chef is, without a doubt, the Thomas Keller of the Adirondacks.

How to choose my farm favorite? Was it relaxing on the expansive beach with my toes in the lake, feeling the Adirondack breeze on my private, screened-in porch, strolling the vineyard at sunset, sipping a glass of wine at the fire pit? I’ll just have to go back again to decide!

A huge thank you to Dan who welcomed me with attentive, efficient service and a warm smile. Thank you to JP and the entire beach team for handling the paddle boards, kayaks, beach chairs, umbrellas and, of course, the refreshing beach beverages. You all helped make Rolling Hills Estate Winery one of my best vacations. B.L.

“With only a smaller amount of homes available, we felt so fortunate to have gotten to stay at this magnificent property and so many of our friends tried to get a reservation, but the waiting list was quite long.”

R
olling Hills Estate Winery is, by far, one of the most beautiful places we have been. The views are stunning and like no other! Whether you want to enjoy their large private beach, hike on spectacular trails, fish off the dock with yourself, your kids or grandkids, or fish with an expert guide or just relax on their screened in porches, you will find this place magical.

The staff is so friendly and attentive, and you really get to enjoy the local flavor of being in a country paradise. Their meat and farm-fresh vegetables are so fresh, the eggs and milk from their farm was delicious and it seems as if they have thought of every detail to make your stay at Rolling Hills just perfect. With only a smaller amount of homes available, we felt so fortunate to have gotten to stay at this magnificent property and so many of our friends tried to get a reservation, but the waiting list was quite long. Their bar in the huge main barn was country perfection and their choices of wine and liquor was great! I found some of my new favorite spirits I never knew existed. The world class chef dinner was one of the best I have ever had.

Thank you to the Rolling Hills Estate Winery team for making our stay there one we will never forget. We can’t wait to come back!  L.D.

“The accommodations were lovely, the staff members could not have been nicer and were so very enthusiastic and helpful.”

M
y family and I just recently had the opportunity to spend a lovely week’s vacation at Rolling Hills Estate Winery in Westport, NY. What a treat!! It is is like no other vacation we’ve had. A beautiful place located on Lake Champlain. The accommodations were lovely, the staff members could not have been nicer and were so very enthusiastic and helpful. They answered all our inquiries and were only too happy to share their knowledge with us. The views were spectacular …the sunrises and sunsets magnificent. We got to experience a little farm life collecting chicken eggs, petting the draft horses and watching the cows being milked. The food, milk and produce, all from the farm were absolutely delicious. On Saturday, we had a dinner that was indescribably wonderful, prepared by a world-class chef with food from the farm. I cannot say enough about the time we had there. My husband said the only disappointment we had was when we had to leave and I agree!!! Such a peaceful and relaxing place! Thank you for a wonderful experience! P.R.

“The homes were impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. Rustic luxury perfection! I couldn’t believe how spacious they were.”

M
y family of five took a trip to Rolling Hills back in August. I mean WOW, if I could give this place 10 stars I would!!! My three boys still talk about it every day! From the moment you arrive, you immediately feel like you are in a place of true rest and relaxation. We absolutely loved everything about this incredibly beautiful and well-maintained property. You honestly feel like you are in a different world!! If you are looking for a place to relax, unwind and de-stress, this is the place to be!!!

The homes were impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. Rustic luxury perfection! I couldn’t believe how spacious they were. You could easily fit three families there. We loved grabbing fresh produce every morning from their farm and making our own breakfast. You get fresh eggs, milk, beef, pork, lamb, vegetables every day to cook/barbecue at your own home. S’mores by the campfire every night were of course my kids favorite. My kids absolutely loved spending time with the farm animals. They even did farm chores in the morning picking the eggs from the chicken coop and feeding the animals. I mean wow, what a truly amazing experience that was!

The private beach was beautiful. We did boating, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding the list goes on and on. We have three boys ages 15, 6 and 4 and everyone could find something they could enjoy. We went on beautiful hikes that are set only few minutes away. The waterfall hike was absolutely breathtaking! The views were magnificent, overlooking the spectacular Lake Champlain. The wine tour and tasting was top-notch and introduced some unbelievably beautiful-tasting wines from upstate NY.

The staff was incredible top to bottom. As for the staff….absolutely incredible!!! Courteous, prompt, and pristine. The highlight of the week was undoubtedly the Saturday evening 5-course dinner. You will not get a better experience anywhere!!! All I can say is that we cannot wait to go back! D.V.

Is Rolling Hills Estate Winery a resort property?

RHEW is a gated, privately-owned wine community with vineyard and farm privileges. With your townhome lease, you enjoy a home away from home right on an Estate Winery, a large private beach on Lake Champlain, a private Tasting Barn, farm fresh food grown and raised right on property and much more! Rather than the overreach of a hotel or resort, you can enjoy much more privacy and freedom with family and friends. We will help you get settled upon arrival and then we will leave you to enjoy, explore, and relax. It is YOUR home away from home.

What is included in the townhome?

Your townhome is complete with all bed linens and bath towels. We also provide dishwashing liquid, sponges, kitchen towels and potholders, dishwasher detergent, and liquid hand soap. Your townhome has two kitchens with service for 8 in each. Each townhome has dishware, glassware, and flatware, cookware and utensils. Does housekeeping come in to tidy up during the week?

Our housekeeping staff will provide a once weekly thorough cleaning including all linen changes.  Trash and recycling are removed twice weekly. There are washers and dryers in our townhomes, as well as a foldable clothing rack.

Do the townhomes have air conditioning?

We can’t say there won’t be an occasional hot night, so we do provide freestanding AC units that can be delivered

and installed to your townhome. Due to the cooler evenings in the North Country, we generally do not need air conditioning units. All rooms and porches have ceiling fans and we provide portable window fans.

Is there a bar at RHEW?

Yes! We are a NYS-licensed Farm Winery, and our well-stocked, bar features the best wines that New York State has to offer, as well as a large selection of unique crafted wine, spirits, beer, and ciders all available for your enjoyment. You will also have access to Rolling Hills Estate Winery’s private wine collection that are not available to the public. All alcoholic beverages purchased at our Tasting Room during your stay will be put on your tab and settled upon checkout with any major credit card.

Do the townhomes have WiFi?

All of the townhomes, as well as our Tasting Barn, have strong WiFi. Many of our Guests enjoy working right on their screened-in porches!

Is food provided? If not, what do we need to bring?

Rolling Hills Estate Winery has a working farm where we raise grass-fed beef, Berkshire pork, and spring lamb…all hormone free. We provide our Member Guests with assorted cuts of meat, as well as an assortment of seasonal vegetables, fresh herbs, milk, and eggs, all grown and raised on property. We like to call it an UNLIMITED CSA!

Our Saturday evening chef-prepared farm-to-table five-course dinner is the highlight for our Guests and their families. Our Sommelier is present for wine pairings, and it is a night to remember! You will need to supplement and bring some items, including oils, condiments, pasta, bread, etc. A quick 12 minutes down the road is a TOPS supermarket, and there are farm stands scattered throughout the area. Kinney’s drug store is next to TOPS, should you need to grab any items/medication.

I sometimes like to go out to grab a cup of coffee…is there any place nearby?

Although we provide ground Adirondack Mountain coffee in your townhome and at our Tasting Barn during breakfast, there are some wonderful little coffee shops nearby – the Red Brick Cafe in Port Henry makes some of the best around.

Do we need to bring beach towels?

All Guests receive complimentary plush beach towels for all in their party.

Do we need to bring beach chairs?

Rolling Hills Estate Winery has assorted beach chairs/chaises/umbrellas for our Guests while on the beach.

Do you have kayaks or paddleboards?

Yes! At our large private beach (and perhaps the prettiest one on all of Lake Champlain) we have paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, lake floats, sand toys, CamJam, and cornhole, as well as fishing rods and gear for our Guests. Life jackets are provided!

How far is the beach from my townhome? Can we take a golf cart to the beach?

The beach is a quick walk/ride from your townhome. Our beachside Lakehouse Cottage has a bathroom, soft drinks, and snacks that are stocked daily.

Is there a fire pit?

Yes! We have a large hard carved fire pit made by our own stoneworkers located right across from our Tasting Barn. Our bartender can provide you with s’mores sticks for roasting marshmallows.
